Department Of Zoology

Department of Zoology is one of the best leading departments of Rishi Bankim Chandra College For Women , Naihati. The subject “Zoology “ has high demand as reflected in the large number of applications received from the students for admission in each year and choice of the subject by the students under CBCS course curriculum. Teaching of Zoology should not only be modern but also be more useful and meaningful for human welfare .
Our Zoology department was initiated in 13 th July, 1984 , after trifurcation of the Mother institute . From the beginning , Bio- General Course was started, subsequently, in the year 2006, Zoology Honours was introduced.
During the past years the Department has made all round progress and acquired a position among the leading Departments of the college under Calcutta University and now under the affiliation of West Bengal State University. It offers undergraduate course and plays a significant role in promotion of the higher education among socially and economically backward girl students of this district Our Academic Programs have been designed in such a way that it trains our faculty members ,staffs, students for skill development and work for the application of this subject for human welfare.
The Academic programs of the Department include academic lectures, practical demonstrations , hands on training programs, workshops , publication of Wall Magazine and Departmental Journals, Departmental excursions and Field study,visit to research laboratories and the out reach programs.
Every year , our students are awarded with high marks which promote them to pursue higher education. Many of our passed out students have qualified in SET, CSIR- NET, JAM examination and are engaged in Ph.D programmes. Many students have been appointed in different Government jobs like College and School teachers, Laboratory Assistants ,PSC, Staff Selection Commission, Indian Rail , FCI, Air Force, Bank and UPSC. Many students are also working in Private Sectors as teachers, academic counsellors.
